Quiet Day with Father LaVoe | June 16th from 9 AM to 3:30 PM
June 16 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
New seasons invite us along as they come and go. Christmas is most blatant, but springtime bids us to put our snow equipment away and break out the Easter baskets and gardening gloves. Religions, including ours, but certainly not limited to ours, have taken cues from the sun, moon, temperature, agricultural growth and other natural changes for millennia. Old Testament feasts and New Testament seasons, the entire church calendar, daily office, and even children’s prayers at meals and at bedtime all have roots in the natural ordering of God’s creation. What serious, lasting, beneficial adjustments do you make, now that the walruses have migrated north, and the groundhogs are returning from Capistrano?
One thing you can do is indulge yourself in a Quiet Day at St Margaret’s. Leaving aside distractions and demands, you can treat your body, mind, soul and spirit to the peaceful, prayerful atmosphere of the grounds, chapel, library and sitting areas, and the partaking of treats, beverages, and lunch provided throughout the day. Father LaVoe’s talks on little known spiritual backgrounds of Commandments, Bible, and Sacraments are bound to increase and enrich your understanding. Use reflection time between talks in any way you choose. It may be just what you need in order to be closer with God, Jesus, the Spirit, and God’s grace. A charge of $15 will be asked for lunch, but help is available if needed. For those who find silence a challenge, conversation rooms will be available. Please register by June 9th.
